General Medicine

The Department of General Medicine at SMMCHRI is at the heart of the institution, providing broad- based medical care while also training the next generation of doctors. Focused on the prevention, diagnosis, and non-surgical management of diseases, the department plays a vital role in supporting every other specialty within the hospital.

Our team of experienced faculty and physicians combine strong clinical expertise with a passion for teaching. This creates an environment where medical knowledge is passed on in tandem with a commitment to compassionate care. The department also serves as a referral center for complex cases, working closely with other specialties to ensure patients receive well-rounded, multidisciplinary care.

We look after a wide range of health concerns, including acute and chronic infections, metabolic and lifestyle disorders such as diabetes, hypertension, and obesity. Our services also extend to liver and kidney disorders, cardiac and neurological problems, nutritional deficiencies, elderly care, and critical illnesses.

Facilities include a well-equipped Outpatient Department, dedicated Inpatient Wards, advanced Intensive Care Units (ICU, ICCU, RICU), and 24/7 Emergency and Casualty services. By combining the latest medical advances with individualized patient care, the department strives to deliver the best possible outcomes.
