The Department of Paediatrics offers preventive, promotive, diagnostic and curative health services to all children upto 12 years of age. Regular growth monitoring at well baby clinic and routine growth monitoring of all children who attend outpatient services helps to identify growth faltering. The Department is run by highly experienced and well qualified professionals with 3 units and adequate beds to deliver effective health care to all children including paediatric emergencies.

Details Of The Curriculum For UG Program

The Department is actively involved in educating the Undergraduate (MBBS) students through Lectures with Interactive sessions, group discussion based on the current CBME.The undergraduate MBBS pediatric curriculum focuses on providing students with skills to understand growth, development and common childhood illnesses. It emphasizes preventive pediatrics, including immunization, nutrition and child welfare alongside recognition and management of common pediatric enmergencies.Students are trained to take pediatric history, perform clinical examinations and develop communication skills for dealing with children and parents. The curriculum integrates theory with clinical exposure in wards and outpatient departments, aiming to build a strong foundation of compassionate, evidence based care of children.

FACILITIES AVAILABLE AND CLINICAL SERVICES PROVIDED

Our Pediatric Department is equipped with facilities to provide comprehensive care for infant and children up to 12 years of age. The Department offers outpatient clinics for common conditions and Speciality clinics which includes Asthma clinic, Seizure clinic, Nutrition clinic, Well baby clinic etc. Through immunization clinic, we offer immunization for all vaccine preventable diseases free of cost under NIP. The Department is run by highly experienced and well qualified professionals with 3 units and adequate beds to deliver effective health care to all children including paediatric emergencies The Department has NICU with adequate infrastructure and patient friendly PICU with equipments to manage sick children. Through outreach programmes the Department offers school health services by periodic school visit and health check up to nearby schools. Together these services ensure preventive, promotive and curative pediatric healthcare

Programs Conducted By The Department

The Pediatric Department regularly conducts Continuing Medical Education programs and workshops to update healthcare professionals and students on recent advances in child health. These sessions focus on key topics such as neonatal resuscitation, growth and development assessment, pediatric emergencies, immunization practices and management of common childhood diseases.

  • Our recent CME on Pediatric pulmonology “Unlocking the Lungs” was conducted on 9th April , 2025 and
  • CME on Neonatal Resucitation by the eminent neonatologist Dr.S Mangala Bharathi was conducted on November 23rd 2022.
  • Workshops emphasize hands on training ,skill development ,interactive case discussion to enhance clinical competence.
  • Every year World Breastfeeding Week programs are conducted from August 1st to 7th to sensitize the public and professionals regarding the benefits of breastfeeding.
