About the Department

The Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology with its undergraduate teaching program uses different methods of teaching like integrated teaching, small group discussions, problem-based learning modules, demonstrations, seminars and multiple choice questions to inculcate knowledge in Forensic Medicine and Toxicology. Department actively participates in conducting medico-legal work and deposing evidence in courts. Apart from teaching the UG students, we motivate and actively engage the students in research projects and research publications in National and International Journals. Medico-Legal educationis given to Emergency Medicine Department MOs, Nursing staffs and Post graduate students. Faculties are encouraged to update their knowledge by attending CMEs, conferences and other medical education training programmes. Our Department has state-of -art   standard mortuary settings with viewing gallery accommodating more than 100 students at a time with cold storage facilities. Our Department is well equipped with library, research lab, and museum.

Prof. Dr. Anand Vasudevan

have a vast knowledge in the field of forensic medicine, criminology, psychology and medico-legal aspects with 22yrs of experience. I was a medical research fellow at the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine, Australia. However, having undergone specialised training as a forensic pathologist in India. I had substantial experience in conducting medicolegal autopsies and procedures, which included crime scene investigations and criminal interrogation protocols in association with Department of Justice and Victoria Police, Melbourne.
